Carton Flow racks are used for ease of picking goods that are stored in cartons, boxes, bins, or totes and roll on inclined rollers using gravity to the pick face. Carton flow is perfect for piece picking smaller items out of split cartons, such as hardware, food items, and clothing. The system is typically loaded from the back or “loading aisle” and taken from the front, or “pick aisle”, which makes this type of racking a FIFO, or first-in, first-out system. This set up also allows for inventory to be picked and re-stocked at the same time for maximum efficiency in a high pick volume warehouse. Carton flow, also known as case flow or gravity flow rack, can be integrated into existing pallet racking with ease, allowing for pick levels below and bulk pallet storage above.
Speed Picking Cells are high-density hanging storage bins that incorporate directly into selective pallet rack systems and typically used for piece picking applications. This allows for small item picking below on ground level while utilizing vertical space for bulk pallet storage above. The cells are made vinyl and hang from tracks that connect to your existing pallet rack beams. The “cells” or bins come in a variety of sizes so accommodate different sized items, but are mostly used for small piece-pick items from master cartons.
Rack / Shelving supported mezzanines are a perfect way to maximize an order-picking operation in the most efficient way possible. They can be designed with multiple levels depending on your ceiling clearance and offer strong value as the actual racking and shelving is used to support the floor levels. These structures can offer various shelf sizes and flooring options depending on the type of product you plan on storing. Open work areas can also be incorporated into the design to pick / pack operations or additional personnel. Rack Supported mezzanines typically have standard stairs for employees and either slide gates or special lifts to get product up and down. Conveyor systems can also be incorporated.
